NACON Participates in the Cell Phones for Soldiers Enterprise

August 12, 2009

Cell Phones for Soldiers is a non-profit organization whose mission is to turn old cell phones into more than 12 million minutes of prepaid calling cards for U.S. soldiers stationed overseas. To accomplish this endeavor, CFS plans to collect 50,000 cell phones monthly through a network of more than 3,000 collection sites located nationwide.

The phones are sent to ReCellular, a recycler and reseller of used cellular phones and accessories, who in turn pays CFS for each donated phone. This will provide an hour of talk time to soldiers abroad enabling them to stay connected with their loved ones. NACON’s cell phone collection effort is led by Robert Lerch, who stated “I feel this is a great way to give back and support our troops overseas and for them to keep in touch with their families”.
