Key Milestones

1998
  • NACON’s current President and CEO, veteran John Sciandra founds the company with a vision for providing solutions to difficult problems in information technology.
2001
  • The fledgling company operates an R&D lab out of a shed (dubbed “National Security in a Shed” by Montpelier Magazine) and puts down roots in Annapolis, MD for convenient access to clients in Washington, DC and the Baltimore – Washington corridor.
  • NACON participates on a Congressional study to examine security of the FAA’s Telecommunications Redesign Project.
  • After the September 11th attacks, NACON is placed on retainer to re-instantiate Army servers at the Pentagon.
  • NACON helps to set up and manage the first DISA Sensor Grid Project, which collects and feeds intrusion data to analysts at the Joint Task Force-Global Network Operations. The mission of JTF-GNO is to direct “the operation and defense of the Global Information Grid…in support of the DOD’s full spectrum of war fighting, intelligence, and business missions.”
2002
  • Evidence grows that information assurance (IA) training is in high demand. But, inexpensive ways to deliver training in the massive numbers the defense sector needs simply do not exist. NACON begins working with the U.S. Army CIO to deliver virtual machine-based IA training to Army personnel worldwide.
2004
  • NACON continues to grow. To accommodate new staff and a new role hosting IA training servers, NACON moves corporate headquarters to Annapolis.
2007
  • NACON is awarded a patent for the suite of learning management system products now known as VirtualOnDemand®.
2009
  • As a part of a 15-business joint venture called SBD Alliant LLC, NACON and its other small-business partners are awarded an Alliant Small Business Information Technology contract valued at $15 billion. SBD Alliant will enable the GSA to provide federal agencies with a centralized source to obtain a broad range of integrated information technology solutions worldwide.
